Moltbook, a social media platform for AI bots, has been making headlines as the “Reddit for bots” where AI agents can interact with each other. Created by Matt Schlicht, in partnership with his personal AI assistant Moltbot, the platform has sparked speculation about its potential use.
According to Schlicht, he did not write any of the code for Moltbook, instead relying on his AI assistant to develop the platform. Running on batches of Mac minis, Moltbot has been working with Schlicht to create this unique social network. However, it wasn’t long before concerns were raised that Moltbot agents were using the platform to plot an AI uprising, although these claims are likely unfounded.
The development of Moltbook and its potential implications will likely be closely watched by companies like Nvidia, Ring, and OpenAI, who are all involved in the development of AI technology. As the use of AI continues to grow, it will be important to monitor how platforms like Moltbook are used and ensure they do not pose a risk to society. For now, it seems that Moltbook is not being used for any nefarious purposes, but rather as a unique experiment in AI development.
