According to a report by Apple insider Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple is scaling back a long-rumored feature known as Apple Health+ that was expected to be part of iOS 27. The feature was supposed to be a virtual health coach that would provide users with AI-powered health recommendations based on their personal health data in the Apple Health app.
The Apple Health+ feature would have provided users with detailed health reports, videos explaining medical conditions, wellness tips, and more. It would have combined new surveys and health assessments with data from Apple Watches and external lab reports. However, it is unclear if Apple Health+ would have been a paid subscription service. The feature was initially rumored to be part of iOS 26, indicating that it had been in development for a long time.
Instead of canceling the feature outright, Apple is scaling it back, with some components being repurposed and potentially introduced as early as this year. These components will include suggestions based on existing Health app data. Only bits and pieces of the original Apple Health+ feature will launch, marking a significant reduction in the scope of the project.
The scaling back of Apple Health+ will likely have an impact on the upcoming iOS 27 release, with users now expecting a more limited set of new features. As Apple continues to develop and refine its health-related services, it remains to be seen how the company will utilize the components of Apple Health+ in future updates and releases. Further details on the fate of Apple Health+ and its potential reintroduction in a different form are expected to emerge in the coming months.
