China’s CXMT and YMTC to Boost Memory Output with New Fabs

China’s two largest memory manufacturers, CXMT and YMTC, are reportedly planning to significantly increase their memory output through the construction of new fabrication plants, or fabs, in a bid to narrow the gap with the industry’s dominant players.

CXMT and YMTC are said to be taking advantage of an opportunity to expand their production capacity, with each company planning to build two new fabs. This move is expected to boost their memory output and bring them closer to the levels of the “big three” incumbents in the industry.

The expansion plans of CXMT and YMTC could have significant implications for the global memory market, potentially altering the competitive landscape and leading to increased competition among memory manufacturers. As the two Chinese companies increase their production capacity, they may be able to challenge the dominance of the industry’s leading players and gain a larger share of the market.
